Fr. Mike Verschaeve is a priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit and was ordained on the Feast of St. Joseph, March 19th, 1977. The following day, he celebrated his first Mass at St. Joseph Parish. He had been a member of the parish since his teens and had always considered St. Joseph his "home parish." He returned to the parish as pastor on July 26th, 2003 after having served as the pastor of St. Joseph, Monroe, St. Alfred, Taylor, and most recently, St. Anne, Ortonville.
Fr. Mike received a Masters of Divinity degree from St. John Provincial Seminary and a Masters of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of Detroit. He has served on various Archdiocesan committees over the years, including two years on the Council of Vicars and a dozen years on the Presbyteral Council.
He is the oldest of nine children and counts 20 nieces and nephews as well as great nephews and nieces. For hobbies, he enjoys racquetball, gardening, music, golf, exploring his Belgian/French Canadian heritage and opportunities to visit family in the Traverse City area.
