In prepararation of welcoming the text changes of the Mass next year, beginning Advent 2011 the U.S. Bishops have asked that this year be a year of forming our community on the deeper theological meanings of each part of the celebration of the Eucharist. As we begin this year of preparation, our Archdiocese of Detroit has offered parishes a wonderful program for study and reflection, “Believe, Celebrate, Live the Eucharist.” We will begin this parish-wide liturgical formation program in January, studying a new section each month:
Part 1: Gathering (January)
Part 2: Liturgy of the Word (February)
Part 3: Giving Thanks (March)
Part 4: Communion (April)
It is a unique opportunity for each one of us to grow into a fuller, deeper and more conscious understanding of the sacramental nature and the richness of the liturgy. In January we will study Part 1, Gathering. There will be many opportunities for study and reflection:
- Each month we'll begin Mass with an intro of the section study
- Prayer cards for each section will be available at the entrances
- “Mass Classes” will be offered for each section
- Information and articles will be published each week in our Voice
- Expanded Feature Article of the month and other articles, information and links on our website.
