Sacramental Preparation

Celebrating a sacrament is truly an encounter with Christ. “The faithful are born anew in Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life.”  (CCC 1212)

To fully be prepared for these celebrations a period of instruction and growth in the spirit must take place. Children in 2nd grade prepare and celebrate First Reconciliation and First Communion. Children in 8th grade prepare for Confirmation and celebrate in the fall of 9th grade.

St. Joseph Church recognizes parents as primary role models and teachers of their children and partners with them in their sacramental preparation through the Faith Formation classes we offer. Enrollment begins in the spring prior to fall classes. Please call 248.693.9555 for more information or simply download the registration form and send to the Faith Formation Office.

If your baby or young child (under the age of six) has not been baptized, please see our section on Baptism. If you have a school-age child (age six and up) who has not yet been baptized, see our section on RCIC. If you are an adult who would like to become Catholic or renew your faith, see our section on RCIA.
