Many Catholics cringe when we hear the word stewardship. We mistakenly believe that this is merely another way that the Church asks for money. This is not true. Catholic Stewardship is a way of life that begins with God. It asks Catholics to recognize that all we have and what we are, are gifts from our Creator. Given this recognition, as faithful, it is our responsibility to share our gifts via our Time, our Talent and our Treasure in accordance with our blessings. Stewardship rejects the notion that we must “have it all” and instead, embodies the value of giving in love, in service and in justice. At St. Joseph’s Parish, we are called to act in our role as stewards through our vision statement: “We are the presence of Christ. . . sent to transform the world.” Our Parish offers over 50 ministries and opportunities to share ones Time and Talent, to live out our calling by Christ to be stewards, and make a difference in our lives, parish, community and world. “As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards, of God’s varied grace” 1 Peter 4:10 Each fall we have a formal opportunity for our people of faith to renew our commitment to be stewards of God’s gifts. We ask each family to pray and reflect on how each can give back to our God, as disciples of Jesus here on earth.
